Looks like you're getting bent over to me, I have one higher SKU and it's SMARTnet that I don't believe they can sell that low. So they're going to need throw several concurrent resources at it - so I'd say £600 per day isn't unreasonable, especially if you're going to be able leave work on Friday with the old system and come in on Monday to the new system fully working, testing and populated with everyone's email.
Migrating 2 mailboxes that only have a few folders and couple of thousand emails doesn't take very longīut 60 mailboxes with old aliases, 100's of nested folders, 100's of thousands of emails, loads of rules that need replicating, address books, Outlook autocomplete, reset up of signatures, reconfiguration of iPhones and pulling all the data off a server that is connection thread throttled and on the end of crap internet connection - that can take a LOT of time. If the MSP hasn't done this before for Mdaemon (and if they're writing scripts it sounds like they haven't) then migrating email systems can devour large amounts of time. All very slimy in my opinion, engineered at every turn to discourage shopping around. The fact that they have a 'preferred' vendor doesn't sit right, nor does the 'extra certification' if you color outside the lines. That's precisely why I posted here, this is the first refresh I've been involved with in my time here, and I agree on all points. Once delivered the application vendor would load their platform on it. We buy the box from the VAR, pay them directly, etc. Cost on this is unknown.Īs far as purchasing mechanics, I tell the application vendor I'm looking for a new Power box, they say "talk to $VAR, we work with them" - it's technically a separate transaction entirely, more like a referral. Even better, if I buy from somewhere else (even another IBM reseller) the app people have to certify it. This is an old industry (finance/banking) - the app vendor absolutely works together with this VAR for ordering equipment, and it's rather incestuous. All interaction is explicitly at your own risk.Īlways, PMs welcome with your questions any time, not just Fridays. Or someone can give me an idea, a tip, or a guide to complete this step ? So are there someone that tried already this kind of migration? I am wrong about this scenario above ? or i miss something ? Mdaemon server outlook 2007 -> App Migration -> Google server In my mind i thought was something like this below to migrate the users emails: PST file and Outlook profiles (Exchange server)
My choice is try to use the Google Apps Migration for Microsoft Outlook but seem support only. Google offer a nice tool for the migration by the Imap server but Mdaemon isnt supported. There are 2 ways to migrate: By Server or By Client
There are a lot of informations available on Google site and i read most of all but actually i have some doubts about how to upload/migrate the users emails into Google server. We are planning to migrate our current Mdaemon mail server (50 accounts) with Imap to Google Apps Business.Įach client have Outlook 2007 with the Mdaemon connector 2.2
